Here is my route.

On Friday I went out to Leroy Oaks Forest Preserve with Dan Koestler; however, the following two pictures are from my bike ride to work earlier that morning.

The world is a playground.

The sun sets. Its time to hit the town.

Logs

Here is my route.

Today I cruised over to my local Forest Preserve for a beautiful day after three rainy ones.

I found a log.

The woods are coming back to life.

This log makes a nice bridge.

Today I took a lesson from Craig J. Cowan. The following three pictures are the fruits of his artistry.

Nice work Craig!

Triple Divide

Here is my route.

View Triple Divide in a larger map

Similar to Triple Divide Peak in Glacier National Park, this area covers three different watersheds.

This dried up creek bed is what is now the beginning of Baldwin Creek, part of the Salt Creek Watershed. Just just upstream from here the creek bed is blocked and just beyond that the flow has been diverted North.

Wildflowers.

This is Baldwin Pond. The evidence that I've seen suggests that this was the headwater of Baldwin Creek before it was linked to the Buffalo Creek Watershed. Is it a lumbar pack or a fanny pack? You decide.

Remember these? This one was slow and groggy.

Bakers Lake is part of the Flint Creek Watershed. Flint creek is a tributary of the Fox River; therefore, this is up-stream from my hometown. I'm getting ideas about a future adventure involving a canoe.

Return to the Woods

Here is my route.

As promised, I returned to Busse Woods with a fully charged battery.

Humans evolved from an arboreal ancestor.

There is a lot of water back here.

This blog needs more green.

A pack of Coyotes was enjoying this sunny field. Only one of them is distigushable in this shot, but it was a close as I could get without spooking them.

Look famirilar? Thanks to my boots and gaiters I managed to stay dry and get from the woods to where I had to turn around on my last Salt Creek scouting mission.

What a morning.
